Siloam Housing
A housing development of face-brick units with steel stairs and screens, set against mountain views.

The new staff housing for Siloam Hospital in Nzhelele responds to the need to maximise land use and densify. Four typologies house general practice doctors (15 standalone family units), specialist and scarce-skill medical professionals (40 bachelor units), and post-basic and medical students (62 single and double room apartments). Materiality and place-making were key drivers, and the design considers the natural setting and the Soutpansberg mountain backdrop.
LEMEG led the project in consortium as lead partner and coordinated the supporting disciplines, serving as principal and project architects from work stage 1 to work stage 6. The National Department of Health confirmed in writing on 23 April 2018 that the project was completed in November 2016 and that final fees were paid in March 2017.
